The week in review...

I was talking to my sister, Rebecca, and reviewing some of the progress Annie's made lately, and she said, "I didn't know that, you should update your blog!" I forget who I've told what to, and because Annie is changing every day in subtle ways, I forget, "Oh, she didn't do that 2 days ago."

1. She's off of all sleep medicines, and last night she slept soundly through the night. Most nights recently have had a couple of times when she got up and looked around and then went back to sleep. I much prefer the sleeping through the WHOLE night. Please pray for her to sleep every night!
2. Today she used her left hand to eat crushed graham crackers. She really likes graham crackers.
3. She's starting to say things like "mo" for "more," and her speech therapist caught a head nod for "yes." This afternoon she seemed much more alert and communicative than even last week. Lots more vocalizations that are just a whisp away from a real word.
4. Today she stood with light pressure on just her knees for a minute or two. That means she had her shoulders, torso, and hips under control.
5. No head drop seizures since Saturday.
6. No throwing up since last Sunday a week ago I think.

The new seizure medicine makes her sleepy, irritable and sometimes nauseated. Pray that those side effects disappear, because the medicine is working otherwise.

Anyway--that's what I remember right now. You've seen action photography of flowers that open? That's what I see is happening with Annie. She's coming out of her turtle shell more and more every day.

I was thinking today that I wish God would send you all messages each time He answers your prayers. Today was very encouraging. And just a reminder to all you who have prepared meals, cleaned our house, sat with Annie, or prayed for her--we truly feel God's love through you. You are such an incredible comfort to us.

Jean

Oh my goodness! What amazing progress from even the last time I saw Annie last week! Graham crackers with her left hand!! I am still praying for you guys...every time I walk past your old room I say a prayer. And there are often times within the day that you just pop in my head. I remember in a conversation with you, Jean, you mentioned that you know that God can take challenging situations and use them for His glory. Well, He is certainly doing that. Annie's and your family's strength are touching more lives than you could imagine. Your faith is such an encouragement to me and I feel blessed to have met you. Keep on keepin' on, Annie!
Love,
Rebecca (SLP)

What a thrill to hear of Annie's progress. Thank you SO much for continuing to give us these updates. I rejoice with you in the way God is working in Annie's life and will continue in prayer for her! Super news that she is using her hand more and beginning to vocalize! Yay God!

You know, Jean...even if you tell us the same thing today that you told us yesterday (because you don't remember who you told what to), that's just a repetition of praise. And the problem with that is....OH! No problem with that!

And if you tell us of sadness, of tears, of a pained heart, it is a repetition of honest feeling, a heart full of love for a child - all of which we feel with you, and for you, as you go through this.

Every word is precious - it is our way of knowing, of keeping in touch, of hearing your heart - rejoicing or crying - and giving us the chance to join with you moment by moment, the best we can.

Feel free to repeat yourself. We can keep up.

And Lord, we will continue to repeat ourselves: thank you for what you are doing with, in, and through Annie, and all the Sullivans, through this time. Thank you for daily blessings of improvement. Thank you for 'mo'. Thank you for graham crackers. Thank you for physical therapists who work with her daily and who used to, but now simply walk past Annie's 'old room' and pray.

Lord, we will continue to repeat ourselves in prayer that you would heal Annie. For us, NOW would be a perfect time...but we know that Your time is perfect. Still, we pray...and pray...and pray.

Thank you that the Sullivans feel the love surrounding them. Thank you that they do not feel forgotten.

We pray for Annie's healing, but in the meantime, we pray for Your strength, and warmth, and love throughout the Sullivan home and through each and every one of them.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above, the Heavenly Host
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Amen.

Oh, YAY!!!!! I'm so glad she is eating graham crackers, Jean! Solid food! Yay! And what a praise about the head drops! Wahoo! And the language you're seeing--expression! THANK YOU GOD! And the sleeping! Cool!

Go Annie! Go Annie! We love you! Go Annie! Thank You Jesus. We love you. Thank You Jesus! You're awesome!

Lord, YOU ARE AMAZING AND MIGHTY AND INCREDIBLE, AND I CANNOT FATHOM WHY YOU LOVE US SO MUCH, BUT YOU DO--HALLELUJAH! Thank You so much for your hand on Annie and her family, Lord. Thank You for Jean's thankful heart; a heart which gives thanks even in the midst of sorrow. Thank You for the example of faith she is to me. Thank You for encouraging days for the Sullivans when they are weary and down. Thank You for Annie and her spirit. I pray that You would continue to bring this child back to perfect health according to Your perfect plan. I pray that, being the Lord of details, You would continue to bless this family abundantly, caring for their every need. Thank You, Jesus, for your mighty love and will in our lives. In Jesus name, amen.
