Aunt Annie

Yesterday Annie became an aunt, Peter became a daddy, Cris became a mommy, I became a grandmother, and Bill became a grandfather. Yes, little Irene Grace made her grand entrance into the world, and we are all tickled...pink! And Annie figures if Irene likes pink, then she must be a keeper.

We're still trying to figure out what our "grandma" & "grandpa" names are going to be. We have the luxury of worrying about inconsequential things like that, because we actually got a full night's sleep last night. Visiting with the new parents today at the hospital brought back so many memories of new babies and sleepless nights. They do kind of go together like peanut butter and jelly.

I can't gloat too much, because Annie seems to have forgotten how to sleep past 5 AM the last few nights. Don't know what's going on, but something is. I was reminded the other day, though, that I need to celebrate the good things, and not just move on to the next problem. She isn't throwing up, she is pooping, and school is starting soon. All good things to celebrate, just like new little pink grandbabies.

Jean

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward. Psalm 127:3

Praise the Lord for little Irene Grace. What a beautiful name and I'm sure she's gorgeous. Celebrating the good things with you, Jean.

Congratulations, All! I was going to email you today to ask about Irene's expected arrival.....so we need statistics: wt/length, you know, specifics! Red hair?? You look so natural holding that precious little one, Jean, like you've done it a few times before!

And praise God for negative puke, positive poop, and school!

Well, thanks, Gretchen & Pam--Irene is so cute--she looks like a cabbage patch doll! And, yes, it was weird holding her, and knowing that she wasn't coming home to my house. Kinda like passing the torch to the next generation. But, yes, so many memories... Peter & Cris are doing great, and I am so proud of both of them. God is so good.

Congrats on everything! What a beautiful baby!

I googled names for Grandma a while back. I love "Grandma"; but it is so generic. I want my grandkids to know who everyone is talking about when my "grandma" name is mentioned. So, I Googled "names for Grandma". I thought Grandy (and Grampy) sounded fun. Now if I can just get everyone to cooperate. Chloe says quite a few words already; but Grandy hasn't made it to her vocabulary. That's OK, 'cause her excited face when she sees me has "Grandma" (non-generic, of course!) all over it. (LOL) It is very mystifying to move a little bit further around the circle of life, isn't it?

Love, Praise, and Prayers,

Terri W
PS I know I didn't want "Gross mutter" (German)

Kate has a step-great-grandma who is called Mimi. I have always thought that was really cool...so maybe I'll reserve it ;-)
No, go ahead, you can have it, because by the time I'm a grandma, we'll all be senile.

I don't know what the corresponding Grandpa designation would be - Didi?

try this: it takes awhile to load, but it's rich
